Use Local Food for Christmas as a pre-Christmas gift for friends and work colleagues, and tick off the shopping list in the coming weeks to get you through the Christmas rush without going crackers! The Local Food for Christmas guide (RRP £4.50) is now available from farm shops, farmers’ markets, tourist information centres, Mid-counties Co-op stores selling local produce and other retail outlets – see the full list of stockists here. Local Food for Christmas includes five greeting cards, five vouchers worth at least £5.00, nine recipes for a seasonal and local Christmas meal, as well as all the contact details of producers and growers who can provide everything from Brussels sprouts to the turkey, a full bodied red wine, creamy blue cheese, fresh artisan bread, and delicious apples and pears. Tamara Schiopu, manager of the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire Food Groups, has produced the Local Food for Christmas guide to promote local food and drink producers at this critical time. “ With all the talk of climate change now’s the time for all of us to do our bit to reduce carbon emissions and buy local food this Christmas,” says Tamara Schiopu. “ Fresh local food in season is much better for us, and for the planet too. We don’t need to have our food shipped half way round the world when there is so much available here on our doorsteps.” Click on picture above to see an enlarged picture of front cover. |
