Shrivenham Farmers’ Market Celebrates its First Birthday |

Friday 3rd November 2006 sees the first birthday of Shrivenham
Farmers’ Market. The past twelve months have seen this new
shopping experience – an afternoon farmers’ market thrive
offering fresh, seasonal produce direct from the growers to the
residents of Shrivenham, Watchfield and the surrounding
villages.
To celebrate this milestone, John Betjeman’s daughter, Candia Lycett Green, will be signing copies of her books. The market boasts several award-winning producers – Rebecca Jones from Hinton Marsh Farm (meat), Keith and Esther Willingdale from Bow-in-the-Cloud Vineyard, Ceri Cryer from Hill End Farm (cheese) and Jeanette Howse from Well Preserved (marmalade). “We are looking forward to welcoming new and established customers to our celebrations on Friday”, says Suzanne Crafer, the Market Manager. “With the theme of birthdays, we felt it was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate both young and old – the centenary of John Betjeman’s birth and our 1st year. We pride ourselves on our wonderful atmosphere at the market, with local groups taking turns to run refreshments for customers, helping local causes”. The market is held on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month from 3.00 – 7.30 pm at Shrivenham Memorial Hall.
