Berkshire chef Jason Woods is so passionate about local food, that he’s inviting everyone to come and taste his dishes at Windsor Farmers’ Market this Saturday, 7 May.
“ Local food tastes great, and it’s beautiful to cook with because it’s fresh and produced with care by the farmers and growers,” says Jason. “ I’ll be using the best of the spring produce from Windsor Farmers’ Market to show people how easy it is to cook superb food quickly from simple, fresh and tasty ingredients.” Watercress, asparagus and green garlic will feature in the delicious dishes Jason is planning. “ Watercress is a wonderfully versatile leaf, and we’ll be able to celebrate National Watercress Week which starts on 15 May. I’m looking forward to the first of the season’s succulent asparagus spears too. ” Windsor Farmers’ Market will be open for business on Saturday 7 May in St. Leonard’s Road from 9am to 1pm. Jason’s passionate cook-in starts at 10am. The popular street market between Trinity Yard and Temple Road attracts hundreds of shoppers all keen to buy locally-produced bread and pies, vegetables, meat and preserves. According to a survey conducted at the March market, 75% of customers are already voting with their feet by walking to the market. Thames Valley Farmers’ Market Co-operative organises the market on behalf of Windsor and Eton Town Partnership. St. Leonard’s Road between Trinity Yard and Grove Road will be shut to traffic during the market, and diversions will be signed.
