Rowan Tree Goat Farm, near Chesham in Bucks, has scooped a Silver prize at the World Cheese Awards 2005, held recently at London’s Olympia. Paul Hodges, who runs the farm at Ley Hill, was delighted to win the coveted accolade, which was awarded for his goats cheese with apricots. According to the organisers, ‘The prestige of winning Gold, Silver or Bronze at the World Cheese Awards is close to taking Gold in the Olympics - it simply doesn¹t get any better than that because you’ve been judged alongside the best cheeses in the world. The best from the USA - over 200 of them, the best from large and small producers in South Africa, New Zealand and Australia - and the absolute cream from every cheese making country in Europe’. The award will accompany the Farm’s other prizes, including two picked up last summer – a Bronze at the British Cheese awards, and a Gold at the Royal Berkshire Show. Congratulations to everyone at Rowan Tree for these fantastic achievements!
