Wolverton Unlimited Press Release

Release Date: 14th February 2005

 Celebrate Spring at Wolverton Community Market

On Saturday 19th March

 For many years Wolverton had been a Market Town without a Market.

Now thanks to the Countryside Agency and overwhelming support from local people, Wolverton Unlimited will be running a regular fresh produce market on the third Saturday of every month.

 Fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, cakes, pies, honey, cheese and bread will all be available from 9am-1pm in the car park of the Market Halls building on the corner of Creed St and Stratford Rd (opposite Tesco car park).

 Starting on March 19th, this regular market will build on the success of the Harvest and Christmas markets held last year which attracted over 30 traders and really whetted the community’s appetite!

 The vision for Wolverton Community Market is to;

  • Improve access to fresh, locally grown and produced food where its traceability and production methods can be explained by either the producer, a member of the family, employee or co-operative worker
  • Provide a regular service to ensure strong links between producers and customers
  • Raise awareness and educate the community about the importance of local seasonal food and healthy eating
  • Support the development of potential local food, traditional craft and other related enterprises
  • Provide opportunities for community groups to connect with people
  • Create a regular social marketplace, where people can meet, share ideas and celebrate together.
