Local food lovers in the
Thames Valley can find out everything they need to know about local
food in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire
on-line from this Thursday, 2 December.
The brand new local food website
www.local-food.net goes live on Thursday when the Berkshire,
Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire (BBO) Food Groups
launch their new membership scheme.
“Everyone who loves eating and drinking local produce will be able to
find out from our new website where they can buy it,” says Tamara
Schiopu, BBO Food Groups co-ordinator. “There are listings of all the
Farmers’ Markets in the three counties, as well as farm shops.”
The BBO Food Groups membership scheme is being launched at Oxford
Brookes University’s Headington Hill Hall on 2 December. Membership
gives anyone who wants to support the work of the local food groups
the chance to get regular news and information about local produce.
“Dozens of local producers are already members, and benefiting from
subsidised training and marketing support,” says Tamara. “Membership
is open to pubs and restaurants that serve local produce on their
menus, as well as larger commercial organisations such as Oxford,
Swindon and Gloucestershire Co-op.”
